This morning, the Minister for Fisheries, and the Blue Economy, Mr. Jean-Francois Ferrari together with the MNA of Glacis, Regina Esparon laid the foundation stone for the Glacis Gear store project. This was during a short ceremony to mark the beginning of the physical work for this project.
The Glacis Gear store project will consist of 13 gear stores, an access drive, boundary wall estimated at the cost of SCR 2.7 million and is being funded by the European Union. The project has been awarded to Thunder Construction and is expected to be completed in one year.
In his statement at the ceremony, Minister Ferrari said that this project has been a longtime coming and expressed his contentment that it is now being materialized. “The fishermen of Glacis have been patient and with this new milestone, we encouraged you to use the facility properly.” Minister Ferrari also commended SFA especially the Project team for their hard work and dedication in realizing this project.
Present at the ceremony were the French Ambassador, Olivia Berkeley Christmann, the CEO and Deputy CEO of SFA, Glacis Fishermen Association and representatives from the Glacis District Administration.
