Fisheries community gets donation of ice bins |16 June 2023

The management of the Victoria market and representatives of the fishermen association yesterday received ice bins from the Minister for Fisheries, Designated Minister Jean-François Ferrari, during a short ceremony at the Victoria Artisanal Fishing Port.

The donation is a joint effort by the Seychelles Fishing Authority and the Ministry of Fisheries to provide safe, hygienic storage facilities at resale points where fishermen sell their catch.

The management of the Victoria market have been invited to emphasise the efforts being put in place and new operating standards at the market to encourage better hygiene practices.

The bins are also being strategically placed by the associations at their respective locations, for the use of resale and storage.
